Why I blog
I've always been a thinker, and in my last years, I've realized that writing makes me a better one. It organizes and refines my thoughts. It doesn't hurt that it's something I enjoy doing.
It's quite a different state of mind to write for school, or to write for pleasure. The education system makes writing as something to be done with a lot of precision and thought process behind, a chore, therefore mechanical and boring. Fortunately, I've relearned that it can be whatever I want it to be. It's just another tool.
A damn versatile one. It's thinking on steroids. If you had a traumatizing event, it can help you come through it. On the other hand, after a major accomplishment, pouring everything into paper enhances the feat. So that every drop of meaning and depth can be extracted and preserved for future reliving.
When trying to reach a conclusion on a subject, putting your thoughts into written words is enlightening. Now you can review it, ponder once more, and reach a more precise, thorough verdict.
In this fast-paced, short attention span world is quite odd to stop and reflect. Writing allows me to do just that. It's not a new concept, lots of popular personalities (writers, inventors, politicians) have journaled in the past, and it's honestely one of the best ways to peak into their mind, even if they are no longer amongst us. A great example of this is Aaron Swartz essays. He used his writing to fight for what he believed in, to bring sensitive topics to the light of public discussion. My blog doesn't reach such heights, but who knows, maybe one day it might!
PS: It also helps that it's not only soothing but also fun : )
